| Abstract: | Comments on D. A. Givner’s (see record 1993-12130-001) proposal regarding the place of perceptual experience in J. J. Gibson’s theory of perceiving. Givner’s and Gibson’s views of perceptual experience, as well as their positions on the relation between perceptual experience and the process of perceiving, are seen as contrasting. Differences between the authors’ theories in other areas, including accounts of awareness of experience, haptic and visual perceptual experiences, and viewing vs visual perceiving, are also discussed.
